May 11, 2021SECURITY IN COMPANIES: COMPARISON OF EXPERTS
May 13, 2021Today we use to say NEAR MISS but in reality we can say... luck helped!!!
You can't always rely on luck or favorable coincidences.
Taking careful recording of events seriously is advisable for correct prevention action.
The definition sourced from the Viterbo local health unit:
Near miss
It defines itself near miss or near injury any event, related to work, which could have caused an injury or damage to health (illness) or death but, by pure chance, did not cause it: therefore an event that has the potential to cause an injury.
Near miss, near miss, near miss or near miss This category also includes those accidents which remain outside the legislative obligation of registration, i.e. those minor accident events which do not lead to days of absence from work, beyond the day in which the event occurred.
The occurrence of a significant harmful event it is always associated with the occurrence of numerous anomalies that produce only slight or no damage.
Studies show that out of 1000 accidents, 3 are accidents with significant consequences, 88 with minor effects and the remaining
they are so-called near misses or near misses or again "near loss” that is, episodes which, despite having the potential, did not produce damage.
Near miss, near miss, near miss or near miss.
The origin: near-accidents (proportionally much more numerous than injuries) should be considered, like actual accidents, risk indicators.
The same importance must also be given to those accidents which did not result in days of absence from work (absence exceeding one day in addition to that of the occurrence of the event), because they had mild consequences, therefore not recorded in the appropriate register nor included in the collection of data for the purposes of measuring the indices.
Precisely by virtue of the very nature of near miss or near injury, it is not possible to establish a priori whether an event can fall into this category.
Define a series of events as near miss or near misses it would involve caging a concept that has only one definition criterion: the potential.
Every single event must actually be subject to an evaluation before being included among the near misses.
This evaluation can sometimes be really difficult and subjective.
What must guide those who are preparing to classify events is the consideration of the purpose for which such events must be considered:
• engaging in dangerous behavior,
• failure to comply with work requirements and/or procedures,
• structural, organizational and technical deficiencies.
The purpose of analyzing i near miss, like events that lead to injury, is to monitor and prevent events that can cause injury.
