May 27, 2021From the news:
“It was a day of celebration.
What was supposed to be a moment of relaxation and fun turned into a nightmare.
A bite sideways and those endless minutes.
For him, despite the sudden arrival of help, unfortunately there was nothing that could be done, his friends were unable to do anything. "
Let us take inspiration from this sad news to renew an invitation that we make very often and on every occasion.
Teach EVERYONE, starting from primary school, some small first aid interventions or at least alert awareness.

La Heimlich maneuver is a technique of primo soccorso to remove an airway obstruction, which is an effective measure to quickly resolve many cases of suffocation.
The maneuver is named after the American doctor Henry Heimlich, who first described it in 1974.
The maneuver can and must also be practiced by people without health training, but in this case it is always advisable to also call the emergency services without hesitation, possibly dividing the tasks between several people:
While the most suitable person will immediately practice the Heimlich maneuver, others will immediately take care of the emergency call.
If the rescuer is alone with the victim, he will first practice the Heimlich maneuver, then call for help and then repeat the maneuver as far as necessary.
Since the victim of suffocation has an obstruction in the airways, unable to fill his lungs he does not even have the opportunity to cough vigorously on his own.
The rescuer performs the Heimlich maneuver using his hands and arms to exert a series of rapid and deep pressures on the patient's abdominal area, between the sternum and the navel, directing the thrust upwards in order to compress the diaphragm.
This causes compression of the lungs, thus exerting a pneumatic push on the object obstructing the trachea, so as to cause it to be expelled. In essence this represents a powerful and artificial cough.
