A little celebratory Bignami:
On 2 and 3 June 1946, an institutional referendum was held in which Italians were called to the polls to decide what form of state to give to the country.
The referendum, called at the end of the Second World War, sanctioned the passage of theItaly from monarchy to republican system.
The voting in the referendum took place by universal suffrage.
76 years ago, for the first time in Italy, women were able to vote.
La Constitution It definitively came into force on January 1, 1948.
On 8 February 2022, the amendments to articles 9 and 41 of the Constitution were approved, which introduce the protection of the environment, biodiversity and animals among the fundamental principles of the Constitutional Charter.
For the first time since 1948 a change has been made to one of the articles of the Constitution, containing the so-called “Fundamental Principles” of the constitutional order (articles 1-12).
