The 28-year-old underwent emergency surgery at Tricase hospital and had his stomach and part of his esophagus removed as the tissues were damaged and now in necrosis from the toxic substance ingested. 

After the operation he was transferred to the intensive care unit with a reserved prognosis. 

His condition is considered very serious.

Through the testimonies of those present and by viewing the images of the bar's internal video surveillance system, the police managed to reconstruct the dynamics of the facts. 

Apparently, the rinse aid - a colorless liquid similar to water - was apparently decanted by a bartender from the can in which it was found inside a bottle of those used for water, then leaving it on the counter instead of placing it next to the dishwasher . 

Another bartender then, inadvertently, poured the rinse aid into the customer's glass convinced that it was water. 

The two bartenders are under investigation by the police.
