THE RESULTS OF PREVENTION
November 6, 2018LOOK FOR THE INTRUDER
November 13, 2018To the question: do you have confined spaces or activities in environments suspected of pollution?
We are often told, in extreme good faith: DO NOT
Then delving deeper, even with inspections or asking more specific and precise questions, the answer becomes: SI
Let us then propose the definition of again environments suspected of being polluted or confined.
Definition
With the term "confined environment” means a totally or partially limited place/environment
closed, which No.n it was designed and built to be occupied by people, nor normally intended
to be so, but who on occasion can be engaged in carrying out work interventions such as
theinspection, maintenance or repair, cleaning, installation of technological devices.
The determination of dangerous situations for the safety of those who enter a confined environment
can arise from:
design and/or location of the structure;
difficult entry and exit due to location, size and methods;
insufficiency of natural ventilation;
materials, substances, products contained therein (at origin or through subsequent transformations);
type of equipment used;
nature of the work being carried out.
Generally these are environments that have a ratio between volume and opening size such as
where the natural exchanges of the atmosphere inside with the outside air are particularly reduced.
Confined spaces can be present in almost all workplaces, below or above the ground, small as large.
