Interview with Dr. Pilutti on RSPP and Safety
August 27 2018Leadership and humility
August 29 2018Yesterday the problem of the possible presence of ARTIFICIAL GLASS FIBERS (FAV) arose in a company.
Given that it is essential to determine their actual presence, quantification and type (they could also be REFRACTORY CERAMIC FIBERS) with specific analyzes and findings, in general it can be said that "not all fibrous materials, if inhaled, cause serious health effects ", and according to the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer), "apart from asbestos and refractory ceramic fibers (and some types of fibers for special uses), there are no elements to classify the most common mineral wools as carcinogenic substances ”.
However, the report continues, "for a whole series of fibrous materials there is still no precise characterization of their danger, since the factors involved in the complex mechanism of toxicity for humans include individual susceptibility, the conditions of exposure (such as simultaneous exposure to other toxic agents that can have a synergistic effect, the duration and exposure dose) and the chemical-physical characteristics of the inhaled substance".
