Bad habits are difficult to break.
And at work?
We are publishing a short extract of SUVA indications with a useful video both for work and at home. We are making them available to you because, beyond the numbers, the incidence is still very high even today in Italy.
“Portable ladders are a frequently used piece of equipment both at work and in free time.
They are simple to handle and can be easily transported and placed in different places. In many cases, however, safer alternatives are available such as elevating work platforms, mobile scaffolding on wheels and mobile ladders with platforms.
When planning jobs, the following principle must always be respected: portable ladders are ok, but only if there are no safer alternatives.
Accident trend
Every year in Switzerland, 6000 occupational accidents occur related to the use of portable ladders. On average four people lose their lives and over 100 are left disabled.
This corresponds to approximately 10 percent of all recognized cases of disability attributable to an accident or occupational disease. These figures highlight the importance of respecting safety rules when working with portable ladders.”
